Scholarships
The department awards the following scholarships to women's studies majors:

Awards
Scholarly Achievement Awards in Women’s Studies
This award honors students' outstanding contributions to Women's Studies scholarship. Specifically, we are looking for a single piece of work that demonstrates exceptional achievement in research, application of theory, and/or writing. Originality, personal investment, and overall excellence are some of the qualities this work should exhibit. Any work meeting the above criteria that has been completed by a Women’s Studies Major or Minor in a Women's Studies course between April 1, 2011, and March 31, 2012, is eligible for consideration. First place $100.00, second place $50.00.
- Students' self-nominations are appropriate & encouraged. Women's Studies faculty may make nominations.
- Submit a nomination form, a copy of your paper and assignment, and a one-page statement explaining why this work merits consideration for the award to: Judy Meuth, Women's Studies Department, Wilson-Short Hall Room 10, Campus Zip 4007.
Creative Achievement Awards in Women’s Studies
This award honors students' contributions to Women's Studies creative expression. Specifically, we are looking for a single piece of work or project that demonstrates exceptional achievement and artistic expression. Creativity, personal investment, and overall excellence are some of the qualities that this work should exhibit. Any work meeting the above criteria that has been completed by a Women's Studies Major or Minor in a Women’s Studies course between April 1, 2011, and March 31, 2012, is eligible for consideration. First place $100.00, second place $50.00.
- Students' self-nominations by Women’s Studies Majors and Minors are appropriate and encouraged. Women's Studies Faculty may also nominate a students’ work.
- Submit nomination form, copy of the assignment, copies of poems, or prose; slides or photographs of visual arts; or audio or videocassette of performing arts to: Judy Meuth, Women's Studies Department, Wilson-Short Hall Room 10, Campus Zip 4007.
- Submit a one-page statement explaining the background and significance of the project.
Celia Forrest Women’s Studies Student Award
This award recognizes a Women's Studies Major
- who has demonstrated an application of Women's Studies theory to their lives
- who has shown excellence in course-related research.
- Students' self-nominations are appropriate and encouraged. Women’s Studies faculty may also nominate students.
- Submit this nomination form, an essay of approximately two pages describing your experience with Women’s Studies pertaining to the two criteria above, and a resume or CV to: Judy Meuth, Women's Studies Department, Wilson-Short Hall Room 10, Campus Zip 4007. Award $150.00
Susan Armitage Faculty Award
The Susan Armitage Faculty Award is given annually to a Women's Studies instructor or faculty member for his/her contributions to Women's Studies as recognized by the Women's Studies majors/minors. Criteria for this award are:
- contributing to the development of the Women's Studies Department in an exceptional manner, and
- providing a feminist role model for students at WSU.
Liberal Arts Scholarships »
The College of Liberal Arts awards more than $85,000 annually through more than 20 scholarship funds.
Apply by January 31 for both college- and university-level awards using the general university academic scholarship application. Students will be considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible.
