410: Internships
The
Internship in Women's Studies is an opportunity for students to
continue learning in practical work situations and academic workshops.
In your internship, you will apply academic theory to a work situation
in your field of interest. You will design and follow a learning
plan, analyze power structures in organizations, consider leadership
models, and explore how and why societal change is accomplished.
Additionally, you will learn and practice skills in multicultural
communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and strategizing
for change.
The
internship is a variable credit course for 1-12 credit hours. Placements
are made following consultation with the internship coordinator.
It is highly recommended that students initiate consultations well
before the internship semester.
Women's
Studies interns work in a wide range of fields and positions. In
addition, interns often design their own internship to insure work
that will provide the experience the student is seeking.
