WSt 410: Internships

The Internship in Women's Studies is an opportunity for students to continue learning in practical work situations and academic workshops. In your internship, you will apply academic theory to a work situation in your field of interest. You will design and follow a learning plan, analyze power structures in organizations, consider leadership models, and explore how and why societal change is accomplished. Additionally, you will learn and practice skills in multicultural communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and strategizing for change.

The internship is a variable credit course for 1-12 credit hours. Placements are made following consultation with the internship coordinator. It is highly recommended that students initiate consultations well before the internship semester.

Women's Studies interns work in a wide range of fields and positions. In addition, interns often design their own internship to insure work that will provide the experience the student is seeking.

Click here to view a Microsoft Word version of our growing database which houses internship opportunities from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, as well as other national groups. You will need Microsoft Word to view this document. If you would like to see a hard copy version of our database (over 50 pages!) come down to the department office located in Wilson-Short Hall 10.

Check out the internships available via the NWSA Web site.
