Studies Major
CONCENTRATION
IN WOMEN'S STUDIES
(Humanities
or Social Sciences)
The Women's Studies Department has developed a "Major Concentration"
to be offered through General Studies. A Bachelor of Arts in Humanities
or Social Sciences, or a Bachelor of Liberal Arts, concentrated
in Women's Studies, is available through the General Studies Program.

Additional Women's Studies hours
- Maximum
number of semester hours which can be credited towards a major
concentration in W St:

semester hours of Special Topics (W St 301, 311, 321)
3 semester hours of Special Problems (W St 499)
3 semester hours of Internship (W St 410)
W
St 410 professional internship provides for the practical application
of theoretical knowledge. Students are strongly advised to incorporate
3 or more internship credits into their curriculum.
NOTE:
GER courses which are in or cross-listed with Women's Studies and
counted for the major concentration cannot be used to fulfill GER
or college requirements. In addition to a 24-hour major concentration
in Women's Studies, the General Studies Program requires a 15-hour
minor concentration in another department or program. The minor
concentration will determine whether the degree will be granted
in Humanities or Social Sciences.

GENERAL
STUDIES MAJOR: THE LIBERAL ARTS OPTION
A
concentration in Women's Studies is also offered under the Liberal
Arts option. This option provides an opportunity to complete a student
designed senior project in an area of the student's major interest.
For example, the student could choose to do work related to Women
and Science, Women and Popular Media, American Women of Color, or
any area approved by advisors in Women's Studies and Liberal Arts.
