Connecting Learning with the World:

Study Abroad!

The study of human social behavior is as global as the world is round. All students are encouraged to expand their educational borders to settings beyond the Washington State University campuses. Students may participate in the National Student Exchange Program for example, and study at one of over 100 participating universities within the U.S, its territories, or Canada.

Students may also participate in one of four education abroad programs. Each of these programs allows students to study at universities all over the world. Many programs include intensive language courses; some provide internship opportunities. Students can study abroad for the summer, one semester, or for an entire year. Sociology students have recently studied in Italy, South Africa, Costa Rica, and Brazil!

WSU faculty also conduct programs abroad that designed especially for WSU students. Click here for an example of a faculty led program in Florence, Italy that emphasizes the study of social and economic environmental impacts.

Students should contact Christine Oakley to discuss current research opportunities.
