Sociology Department Dissertation Grant
Award: A cash award reflecting resources needed to complete dissertation research not to exceed $600.
Purpose: To provide financial assistance to graduate students at the Ph.D. level who are completing dissertation research.
Eligibility:All Department of Sociology graduate students in the process of completing dissertation research.
Application: Applicants should submit a short research proposal that includes a summary of the research project, estimated timeline for completion, and an itemized budget detailing out-of-pocket costs associated with the research. The proposal should be accompanied by a letter from the student's dissertation committee chair confirming financial need and research progress.
Criteria:The proposal must be for dissertation related research expenses only.
Selection Procedures: The award decision is based upon the quality and progress of the research. The Award's Committee will review all proposals and select the winning applicant.
Award Announcement: The winner will be notified by the Department Chair and a notice of recognition will be posted in the Department's display window outside the Department Office in Wilson Hall. The award winner will be recognized at the Department's annual Spring banquet.
