Memorial Scholarship

 

Award: Cash award of at least $500.

Purpose: To support undergraduate students who express a genuine desire to help others and who are committed to a career in sociology or social work.

Eligibility: Undergraduate students majoring in sociology with an expressed interest in a career in sociology or social work.

Application: Submission of completed application form, and a current Degree Audit Report.

Criteria: Applicants must demonstrate strong academic performance, a commitment to a career and volunteer activities in the area of sociology or social work, and most importantly a sincere desire to love and care for people.

Selection Procedures: The Awards Committee will review all applications and select the winning applicant in consultation with Mr. John Dolan who established the award in honor of his deceased wife and daughter.

Award Announcement: 

The winner of this scholarship will be notified by the Department Chair. A plaque that hangs in the Sociology Office will be inscribed with the winner's name(s). A notice of recognition will be posted in the Department's display window outside the Department Office in Wilson-Short Hall. Award winner(s) will be recognized at the Department's annual Spring banquet.
