Current Research Interests:
My research interests lie in studying fundamental questions of criminology and include crime and deviance, adolescent development, life course, quantitative methods for longitudinal data, gender differences in crime. My current research focuses on understanding the mechanisms of change at both the aggregate and individual levels. At the aggregate level, I study the processes of continuity and change in female and male violence and the gender gap in violence. At the individual level, my research focuses on social processes of youth development from childhood through adolescence and mid-life, examining the origin, course, progression, and consequences of abnormal behaviors. Specifically, I am interested in synchronous modeling of the developmental trajectories of two or more targeted behaviors, describing how those behaviors covary, and examining gender differences in developmental links among them. Also, my research investigates the degree to which each of the modeled behaviors is influenced by social, environmental, and personal factors (which might also change over time) and how the effect of these covariates varies by gender.
