Sociologists for Women in Society Report Card

9/03/2009 - This morning I received the following notice from SWS (Sociologists for Women in Society):

"Sociologists for Women in Society has issued a Report Card on Gender Scholarship and Equity in Sociology Departments. We are happy to report that your department has met our highest standards and been awarded "The SWS Seal of Excellence!"  

The Report Card on Gender Scholarship and Equity in Sociology Departments (2008) can be found o the Committee for Academic Justice website: http://www.socwomen.org/page.php?sss=44

Way to go!  Our certificate/Seal of Excellence will be framed and prominently displayed in the main office.

The Annual CLA Awards Ceremony was held April 28th, 2009 in the Museum of Anthropology, College Hall.

Awards were given to the following people from the Sociology Department:

Don Dillman, for 40 years(!) of service to WSU
Amy Wharton received the Distinguished Faculty Achievement Award
Greg Hooks was recognized for his service as Chair of the Department of Sociology from 2001-2009  (Click for Photo)
