Current Research Interests: I am currently completing my dissertation.
In it, I address three major gaps in research on intimate partner violence. 1) I examine variance in the reporting of intimate partner violence among three diverse groups of low income women: Latinas born in the US, Latinas born outside of the US, and white women born in the US. 2) I consider sociocultural differences that produce differences in IPV victimization rates among these groups of women. 3) I assess whether the widely used Conflict Tactics Scale II (Strauss) is an appropriate survey tool to use in assessing IPV among diverse groups of women, particularly whether the CTS as a valid and reliable tool should be used by researchers to assess IPV risks among minority populations.
