The Department of Political
Science
The Department of Political Science/Program in Criminal Justice
has faculty located on the main campus in Pullman and at the
urban campuses in Spokane and Vancouver.
Degrees
The Pullman department
offers:
- B.A. in political science
- B.A. in criminal justice
- M.A. in political science
- M.A. in criminal justice
- Ph.D. in political
science
- Ph.D. in criminal justice
The
urban campus at Vancouver offers interdisciplinary B.A. and
M.A.
degrees in
public affairs. The urban campus in Spokane
currently offers the M.A. in criminal justice.
Faculty Faculty in the department have training, experience, expertise,
and interests in a variety of specializations and disciplines,
hence the department stresses a multidisciplinary approach to
the study of theoretical issues and applied public policy. The
faculty have a wide range of research and teaching interests, are
committed to cooperative and multidisciplinary scholarship among
faculty and students, are recognized nationally and internationally
for their contributions to their disciplines, and encourage engagement
in "public scholarship" to confront the traditional and emerging
challenges of the world around us.
Research Units The department incorporates the Division
of Governmental Studies and Services (DGSS), which provides
applied policy research and evaluation capabilities to government
agencies.
The Thomas
S. Foley Institute for Public Policy and Public Service is
closely associated with the department, as is the Washington
State Institute for Community Oriented Policing at the urban
campus in Spokane. |
