Del Hungerford started her teaching career in the Shoreline School District in Seattle, Washington where she worked with middle school bands and taught elementary music. In addition, she had a studio of 50 private clarinet students in the Seattle area and founded a summer music festival for clarinetists. After leaving Seattle, Del came back to Moscow where she taught band in the Moscow School District, acted as an accompanist for various choirs within the district, and most recently was the music specialist/theater coordinator for Moscow Charter School (K - 6). Before joining the staff at Moscow Charter School, Del taught band at Jennings Elementary in Colfax, Washington.
Del teaches the MUS 388 course for elementary classroom teachers in addition to the elementary music methods course (MUS 490) for music majors. Her degrees are in clarinet performance from the University of Idaho (B.M.), Yale University (M.M.), the University of Washington (D.M.A). She is a certified teacher for the State of Idaho. In addition to teaching at Washington State University, Del teaches at Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington and the University of Idaho. As a performer,she has been a member of the Spokane Symphony, the Northwest Sinfonietta in Tacoma, the Marzena Contemporary Ensemble in Seattle, and various other chamber groups throughout the northwest. Her emphasis as a music educator is to promote good performing abilities as well being a good teacher. She continues to teach private lessons throughout the region in addition to working with the women's cooperative, Steel House, at the University of Idaho.
