Performance Ensembles

WSU's award winning vocal jazz ensemble, VoJazz, consists of 8-16 singers and a rhythm section. The group participates regularly in national jazz festivals (such as the Lionel Hampton jazz Festival) and maintains an active performance schedule both on and off campus.

Members of VoJazz learn about jazz/pop style, live sound production, microphone technique, solo singing, theory and improvisation. VoJazz also has the opportunity to work with industry leaders such as Bobby McFerrin, Sonny Wilkinson, and The Manhattan Transfer.

While ensemble members are often music majors, non music majors make up a portion of our membership. See our Auditions for more information. In addition to the general audition, potential members of VoJazz are also required to attend a callback audition to determine their feasibility as an ensemble singer and their ability to learn music.
