Top prizewinners at the 2006 Concours Grieg International Piano Competition in Oslo, Norway, the dynamic piano duo 88 Squared performed with members of the Oslo Philharmonic. Other performances include those at New York's Lincoln Center, Rutgers Church Piano Recital Series in New York City, the Bowdoin Music Festival, the Perlman Music Program, and recitals in Washington and Nebraska. The piano duo is comprised of married pianists Jeffrey Savage and Karen Hsiao Savage, both of whom received masters and doctoral degrees from The Juilliard School. Individually they have performed in major international venues such as Carnegie Hall's Weill Hall, the Shanghai Grand Theater, Merkin Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and Kyoto's International Chamber Music Festival, and have received top prizes in national and international competitions in Canada and the United States. Jeffrey and Karen both serve on the piano faculty of Washington State University's School of Music. Projects for 2007-2008 include the commissioning and recording of new works for two pianos by Daniel Ott and Heather Schmidt through WSU's New Faculty Seed Grant, a benefit concert for Grace and Hope for Children with distinguished Juilliard vocal alumni, sponsored by The Juilliard School and the New-York based Sing for Hope Foundation, and recitals in Washington and Las Vegas.
