Bachelor of Music in Music Education – Instrumental Endorsement

The Instrumental Endorsement prepares students to pursue careers teaching
instrumental ensembles in public school settings, including bands, jazz
ensembles, and orchestras. Students work with nationally recognized faculty
to develop the necessary skills for teaching music at the highest levels.
Emphasis is placed on specific knowledge of wind, string, and percussion
instruments, as well as the process of teaching young musicians to excel
performing on these instruments. From rehearsal techniques, to error
correction training, to excellent performing opportunities in WSU ensembles,
this area prepares you for the future.

Instrumental ensembles at WSU include the Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band,
Marching Band, numerous jazz big bands, and the Symphony Orchestra. Students
also have the opportunity to perform in a wide variety of chamber ensembles
and jazz combos.

For a list of required courses and recommended course plan, refer to the WSU School of Music Handbook.
