I was born in Coos Bay, Oregon where I grew up walking the sand dunes, collecting shells on the beach, and enjoying the warm rains in the summer months. Moving to Hayden, Idaho in 1985 was a drastic change to dryer whether and snowy winters, but the mountain views and lovely sunsets made living in the Northwest wonderful.
After receiving my B.A. in General Studies from the University of Idaho in 2006, I stayed in the area and worked full time for a plumbing wholesaler in Spokane, WA for three years before the housing market plunged. After my company laid off over 50% of its workforce, I decided to continue my education and pursue my Graduate degree, and finished a Master’s of Science with the College of Education in Adult Organizational Learning and Leadership from the University of Idaho in May 2013.
Academic advising is one of my passions in life because it brings meaning and purpose to my work. As an advisor for the General Studies program, I make it a point to get to know my advisees and help them achieve their academic, personal and professional goals. Realizing how important a degree is to being successful in today’s world, I strive to help my students complete their programs and move on to professional achievement.
Being a mother of two boys (11 and 18) has brought so much joy to my life. Spending time with them playing games and outdoor sports is something that I do every day I can. I also enjoy staying in shape through running, aerobics, and weightlifting.
