Douglas J. Juneau
Program Coordinator
Doug Juneau started with the CLA General Studies and Advising Center in August 2004. At that time he was finishing up a B.A. in comparative ethnic studies, here at Washington State University. He earned his B.A. in August 2005 and has been continuing his education with a second B.A. in social sciences.
Doug comes from a very eclectic background. He began his career for the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes (CS&KT) as a secretary in the Natural Resources Department. After that he moved to The People's Center (also part of CS&KT), a cultural center/museum. There he worked as the office manager/network administrator. Later on he moved to the Office of Administration and Budget (also part of CS&KT) as the administrative technician. There he oversaw contracts/grants (federal/state/local), Tribal funding, assisted in negotiations with federal agencies, and managed the Grant Management System, a database tracking all types of funding and reporting requirements. Also Doug served on the Tribal Gaming Commission (CS&KT).
Starting in spring 2000, Doug re-began his college career at Washington State University. Doug initially began his higher education directly after high school (1991) and started at Salish Kootenai College, in western Montana, where be began studying computer science. Beginning during the 2002–2003 school year, Doug became active with student involvement. He was selected as chair of the WSU Native American Alliance, where he provided an avenue between the native students and the administration here at WSU. He also served as the student representative on the Native American Advisory Board to the President of Washington State University and also the student representative on the Native American Advisory Council to the Provost of Washington State University. Doug continued with the chair position until the end of the 2003–2004 school year.
Currently, Doug has been working on a long-term project of Program Assessment. He has created, from scratch, a database that is currently tracking all students that are in the CLA General Studies and Advising Center program.
