J. Lasley Dameron
"Six More Analogues and Resources for Poe"

This listing of analogues and resources for Poe supplements Dameron's previous studies appearing in The University of Mississippi Studies in English, n.s., 9 (1991): 157-66; and n.s., 11-12 (1993-95): 460-64. Here Dameron concentrates his attention (as in earlier studies) on journals--including magazines, newspapers, annuals, and gift-books--of Poe's day. Poe's use of current popular themes in his own work bespeaks, to a degree, his methods and traits as a literary artist. Included is one analogue and/or resource each for the following: "The Bells," "The Murders in the Rue Morgue," "Ulalume--A Ballad," and "William Wilson"; and two for "The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar."
