Jacqueline Lyons

Biography

Jacqueline Lyons earned her PhD in English from the University of Utah and her MFA in Creative Writing from Colorado State University. She has taught creative writing in all genres, American literature, and World literature. She served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Lesotho, Southern Africa, which prompted a love of African literature and postcolonial studies. She has been awarded a National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowship in poetry, a Nevada Arts Council Fellowship in creative nonfiction, the Peace Corps Writers Award for Best Poetry Book, and the Indiana Review Poetry Prize.

Teaching Interests

Teaching interests include poetry, creative nonfiction, mythology, African literature, diversity in American literature, literature by women, and postcolonial literature and theory.
