GSA Informal Handbook for Graduate Students

GSA officers are proud to present the first annual Political Science and Criminal Justice Informal Handbook for Graduate Students. While a work in progress, it is the hope of the GSA that the handbook in its current form may be instructive to students considering the move to Pullman. Enjoy!

Joint Undergraduate & Graduate Research Project

Thanks to a generous grant from the Cougparents Program, the CJ/PS Graduate Student Association is sponsoring a Joint Undergraduate and Graduate Research Project. We are looking for four exceptional Criminal Justice or Political Science majors (although other majors may apply) to collaborate on a research project from start to finish with a team of graduate students. There will be two teams, one CJ and one PS, working on parallel projects. Each team will come together periodically to work on building analytical skills.

Participation in this research project presents a unique opportunity for undergraduates and can help differentiate those selected from other students when applying to graduate schools, law schools, and other professional endeavors. This will be a joint effort between graduate students and selected undergraduate students. Along with their graduate student advisers, selected students will be expected to collect data, analyze data, and write up their findings. Our end goal is to have the students present at the academic showcase, but other possibilities include travel to a regional conference and a manuscript. Not only will this afford students a unique, first-hand look at conducting research, they will also receive mentoring from their graduate student advisers and will work as a team in pursuit of their goals.

Applications are due April 29.
