A
Note from the Editor...
What
an honor it has been to create this magazine for you. We hope
the stories will inform and delight you and prompt you to tell
us about someone you know
who is doing extraordinary things with their
Liberal Arts education from Washington State
University. We will pass along those stories
and will make it our goal to keep
you informed about the tremendous things going
on in the college.
If
I were to list all of the people who played a role in getting
this magazine out the list would consume many pages. The short
list of folks to thank includes the following
faculty members for sharing their ideas: Peter Chilson,
assistant English professor, literary
journalist, and fiction writer; Julie Andsager,
associate professor in communication; and Paige
Ouimette, associate professor of psychology.
Dan Fine (1982 English major) shared years of professional experience
as
well as his insight as an alumnus of Liberal Arts
at Washington State. Becky Monk, special reports editor for the
Puget Sound
Business Journal, also gave up precious time to meet with us and
share ideas.
The
dozens of staff and faculty members, who have contributed ideas
for this issue, and future issues, deserve a “thank you.” Designer
Jessica Evans and publications coordinator Edward Sala, at the
Office of
University Publication and Printing, are responsible
for taking our concept and turning
it into a visually stunning publication.
I
would also like to thank Dean Couture for promoting the concept
of ask. and believing in the ability of her staff to accomplish
this.
Still,
this magazine would not exist if not for the interesting men
and women who agreed to be featured and the talented writers who
tell their stories.
Thank
you in advance for spending some time with the magazine and for
giving us your feedback. We encourage your comments. Visit

Best,
Gary
