David Leonard is an Assistant Professor of Comparative Ethnic Studies. While he continues to research Los Angeles and civil rights coalitions, he hopes to further develop his interests in popular culture.
He is currently working on three projects: video games, race and the NBA, and contemporary African American cinema, all of which seek to trancend the limitations of post-modern cultural studies with its emphasis on material conditions and struggle.
His work has recently appeared in Colorlines, Popmatters, and The Black Scholar.
