  • The tournament will be in single-elimination brackets.
  • If it is necessary to give byes in the first round, they will be awarded based on order of sign up, so sign up as soon as possible.
  • A win is worth one point to the winner. A draw is worth 1/2 point to both players. A loss gets zero points.
  • The winner of a bracket is the first player to get to 2 or more points with a lead.
  • In each bracket, choice of color for the first game will be awarded by a coin toss or mutual agreement. Subsequent games in that bracket will alternate colors.
  • In each bracket, the players will be responsible for arranging game times. Games can be played in the department library, but can also be arranged for other sites.
  • Failure to show for a scheduled game or unwillingness to schedule games in a timely fashion can result in forfeit. Dr. Shier is the arbitrator.
  • “Touch move” is in effect, but only in the sense that once your hand is removed from a moved piece, the move stands.
